HST333 History of South Asia

This course focuses on the Indian subcontinent, which includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It focuses on the interplay of the main world religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and the relations between Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Tamils and Sinhalese. Another main topic is the colonization and decolonization of South Asia from Vasco da Gama (1498) to the 1947 independence and partition.
