PTE565 Water Flooding and Enhanced Oil Recovery

Study of the immiscible displacement of oil by water in reservoir systems; review of viscous and gravity forces; relative permeability effects; fluid mobility effects and sweep efficiencies; basic displacement and prediction methods; water flood design methods; enhanced oil recovery methods and applications: chemical, miscible, and thermal methods.

Prerequisite: PTE322 Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering.
