Minor in Psychology
Mission
In line with the university’s mission and its emphasis on the pursuit of academic excellence, the mission of a minor in psychology at LAU is to compliment students’ major field of study with knowledge and experience that will enhance their understanding of human behavior and interdisciplinary inquiry.
Program Educational Objectives
A Minor in Psychology seeks to:
- demonstrate and communicate effectively a broad knowledge of psychological concepts and theories and apply them to individual, cultural, and social contexts and
- demonstrate competence in critical thinking and skeptical inquiry when applying psychological modalities to different contexts.
Student Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Minor in Psychology, students will:
- demonstrate a general understanding of psychological theories and concepts,
- differentiate among the psychological sub-specialties,
- critically evaluate psychological research, and
- apply psychological concepts and theories to other fields and daily lives in order to understand behaviors of individuals and groups.
Curriculum
A total of 18 credits are required to graduate with a Minor in Psychology, distributed as follows:

A senior project is required of all students in addition to successful completion of the course of study.

Extracurricular Activities
The Minor in Psychology encourages students to get involved in a large variety of extracurricular activities, including among others the Psychology Lecture Series i.e. ASOM, Neuroscience Student Movement, Psychology Club, Summer Research Circle, volunteer placement in the community, and SPSS Workshops.
