Department of Liberal Studies

Overview

The Department of Liberal Studies at LAU promotes a dynamic and enriching academic environment, designed to benefit students across all disciplines. As the cornerstone of LAU’s liberal arts and sciences curriculum, the department plays a vital role in shaping a holistic educational experience. It is also the proud home of LAU’s Honors Program, offering opportunities for high-achieving students to engage in rigorous, interdisciplinary learning.

Rooted in the principles of liberal education, the department emphasizes the cultivation of critical and analytical thinking skills, equipping students to approach complex challenges with intellectual agility and informed perspectives. Reflecting its commitment to global citizenship and social responsibility, the department offers a diverse range of courses aligned with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
