Department of Political and International Studies
The Department of Political and International Studies (POLIS) is dedicated to fostering the development of global leaders and citizens, advancing research to serve human progress, and upholding the values of human dignity, equity, good governance, and peace. Committed to interactive learning, interdisciplinary research, and collaborative partnerships, the department empowers students to engage with the world’s most pressing challenges while serving the broader community. It offers distinctive international cultural and educational experiences, with a strong focus on Middle East and North African studies through its BA in Political Science and International Affairs, MA in International Affairs, and Minors in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, Political Science and international affairs, and Legal Studies.
Courses are delivered in an interactive setting while being facilitated by distinguished faculty, holding PhDs from renowned American, Canadian, and European universities. Their expertise spans key areas such as Middle East and North African studies, security studies, Islamic studies, legal studies, conflict resolution, and governance. Through a dynamic blend of lectures, discussions, case studies, and experiential learning, students are encouraged to think critically and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. The department’s mission is to advance knowledge and equip students with the skills and insights necessary to lead with integrity and to serve both their communities and the global society.
