Minor in Animation
Overview
The minor in animation offers students an introduction to the theory and practice of animation, including its relationship to the history of art and cinema, creative writing and basic film production. It provides students with an opportunity to create both personal and collaborative work in a wide range of genres, from traditional character to contemporary experimental and computer animation. The program culminates in a screening and/or exhibition of the final outcome.
Mission
The mission of the Minor in Animation program is to enable students to communicate their ideas through digitally generated animation using creative storytelling and artistic experimentation.
Program Objectives
A Minor in Animation seeks to
- Equip students with skills in animation that will allow them to see their images come to life
- Expose students to local and international animations
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Minor in Animation, students will:
- Understand emerging practices within the field of animation
- Analyze animated works
- Express ideas and narratives through visual methods
- Apply techniques relevant to animation
- Create animated productions

A total of 18 credits are required to graduate with a Minor in Animation, distributed as follows:
