PHY308 Quantum Mechanics
[3–0, 3 cr.]
This course is an introduction to nonrelativistic quantum mechanics. It covers the Schrödinger equation in one and three dimensions, including spherical symmetric systems such as the three-dimensional oscillator and the hydrogen atom. Additionally, it explores the theory of angular momentum, the Zeeman effect, the Stark effect, spin-orbit coupling, time-dependent perturbation theory, and variational methods. The course will also provide an overview of the mathematical formalism necessary for understanding the principles of quantum mechanics.
Prerequisites: MTH201 Calculus III and CHM201 Chemical Principles
