MEE599AP Emerging Technologies & Modern Materials

Modern industries in the automotive and aerospace sectors require new ranges of materials. This course explores the latest advancements in materials and their applications in modern engineering and technologies. Topics include composite polymer / metallic materials, emphasizing their high-strength, lightweight properties for aerospace and automotive industries; powder metal, covering the processing and applications of powdered metal composites in high-performance components as race cars and aircraft, as well as fracture mechanics, analyzing material failure and durability in the aerospace sector. The course will cover emerging technologies in PCB (Printed Circuit Boards) materials and fabrication techniques. Through hands-on projects / case studies, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of cutting-edge materials and their role in emerging technologies.

Prerequisites: fifth-year standing
