IPE200 Introduction to IPE and Communication Tools

IPE 200 is the first exposure to IPE for all students. Its main purpose is to introduce the notion of IPE and collaborative practice, present each profession’s roles and responsibilities, as well as basic interprofessional communication techniques that foster effective interactions among members of the health care team and promote quality and safety of patient care.

IPE300 Teamwork & Conflict Management

In IPE 300, students will be then given strategic tools for creating teams and managing conflicts. Indeed, conflicts in health teams are detrimental to the patient/client, leading to less than optimal healthcare. Here we will also highlight the importance of quality through collaboration as well as the importance of safety measures and system design to avoid errors. Students will have the opportunity to use these tools during the group session.

IPE400 Ethics in an Interprofessional Approach

The main purpose of the IPE 400 session is to introduce the multidisciplinary vision of ethics, as most have already had ethics within their respective programs. It highlights the difficulty as well as the value of ethical decision taking in difficult clinical circumstances by using an interprofessional lens.
