In July 2026, the Lebanese American University School of Pharmacy launched the first international PGY2 Pharmacy Residency program in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Management. It is the first and only PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Program in Lebanon.

This is a joint postgraduate year 2 (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency program in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Management between the Lebanese American University (LAU) School of Pharmacy and LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital.

This program provides PGY1 pharmacy residency graduates with specialized training and expertise across clinical practice, teaching, and leadership. The program encompasses the fields of clinical practice, medication safety, leadership, quality improvement and anticoagulation stewardship and is designed to develop expert skills in caring for patients experiencing or at risk of thrombosis and bleeding. Upon successful completion, the resident will have expertise in the clinical management of the many therapies utilized to prevent and treat thrombosis and bleeding. Residents will be able to develop, implement and advance system-level improvements to measurably improve the safety and quality of patient care, and will be prepared to effectively educate clinicians and non-clinicians regarding these high-risk agents.  Examples of rotations include Stewardship I-Introduction, Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology, Hematology/Oncology, Medication Safety/Informatics, Stewardship II- Vascular, and Stewardship III- Cardiology. Longitudinal rotations will include Special Coags Lab, Periprocedural antithrombotics clinic, Staffing, Research and Committee Leadership. Other electives are also available.

Mission

The PGY2 Pharmacy Residency program in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Management will prepare pharmacists with specialization, advanced competency and proficiency in thrombosis and hemostasis clinical practice, education, research and practice management, combined with practice advancement leadership skills to impact the profession of pharmacy nationally and internationally.

Vision

The PGY2 Pharmacy Residency program in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Management will be recognized nationally and regionally for its excellence in developing highly-competent specialized pharmacy professionals in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Management as appraised by their practice, teaching, research and leadership skills in pharmacy.

Requirements

PharmD degree (ACPE-accredited); licensed/eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Lebanon, Lebanese citizenship, ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and interview.

Application material: letter of intent (personal/professional goals and interest in program), curriculum vitae, three letters of reference (at least two letters from a clinical preceptors), and academic transcripts.
