Admission to graduate programs at LAU is selectively granted to students who hold bachelor’s degrees from recognized colleges or universities and demonstrate distinct academic ability and motivation. Admission to a program rests on meeting the minimum requirements described below and availability of space.

The information, procedures and criteria for admission found herein are valid for the academic year 2026–2027 as of the date of publication, but remain subject to change.

General Admission Requirements

Applicants to any graduate degree program must submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:

1. One recent passport-size photo.
2. A photocopy of your identity card or passport (should be the same as the nationality to be used in the registration process at LAU).
3. A clear photocopy of your Family Civil Status record (For Lebanese and Arab nationals)
4. Certified copies of educational or professional certificates or diplomas.
5. Official updated university transcripts from all universities you attended, along with course descriptions of all completed courses Failure to declare enrollment at other institutions could result in an invalidation of admission and any credits or degrees earned. Request your university to send us an official online copy of your transcript. If this option is not available at your university, upload a copy of your transcript in a one file document and request your university to mail your Official transcript to our mailing address. 
6. Equivalency of your bachelor’s degree from the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education (depending on the university/college you attended).
7. A certified copy of your official secondary diploma (Lebanese Baccalaureate, French Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate, High School Diploma, G.C.E.s, etc.). For diplomas other than the Lebanese Baccalaureate, applicants must also submit the official Lebanese equivalence obtained from the Lebanese Ministry of Education.
8. Recommendations from two professors who are familiar with your academic performance. In addition, if you have work experience, you should supply a certificate of employment.
9. The W-9S form (available on www.irs.gov) if you are a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Green Card holder, with proof of your social security number. With this information, LAU is able to provide U.S. students (or parents of dependent students) with Form 1098-T that is used for American tax related purposes.

Some applicants may be interviewed by the Graduate Admissions Council.

English Proficiency

English is the official language of instruction at LAU therefore graduates from universities where the language of instruction is not English must submit proof of English proficiency by taking one of the below:

1. The Internet-based TOEFL (IBT), with a minimum score of 90 or 5. LAU code: 2595. The institutional TOEFL is not accepted.
2. IELTS with a minimum of 7.
3. The English Entrance Exam (EEE) administered at LAU with a minimum score of 123.
4. The Duolingo English Test with a minimum score of: 125

• Applicants with EEE scores between 102 and 122, or its equivalent on the TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo English Test, have to register for ENG601 or retake and pass the English test within the first year of enrollment.
• Applicants with EEE scores below 102, or 80 on the Internet–based TOEFL (IBT), or 6.5 in IELTS, or 115 on the Duolingo English Test will not be accepted in the graduate programs.

Graduates from universities where the language of instruction is English are not required to submit proof of English language proficiency. However, an interview may be required.

Transfer

A maximum of 6 graduate credits may be transferred from another institution recognized by LAU, or between the LAU graduate programs.

Validity of Acceptance for Admission

An offer of admission to an applicant is valid only for one term. If applicants accepted for a specific term do not register and wish to defer their admission, they must contact their Student Recruitment Coordinator. they must complete and submit a Reactivation Application available at the Office of Admissions.
