Clinical Simulation Center
Overview
Inaugurated in August 2013, the LAU Clinical Simulation Center (LAU-CSC) is a state-of-the-art center that was established in-line with the LAU Health Sciences Schools’ vision of developing a curriculum modeled after the highest quality standards of international medical education.
Located in the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury Health Sciences Center on the Byblos Campus, the center is designed to support the interdisciplinary learning of LAU’s students from the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine, Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing, and School of Pharmacy. The CSC provides learners from all health science schools with experiential learning opportunities emphasizing the importance of skills enhancement and patient safety.
These schools are among the first national and regional health sciences schools to integrate simulation technology, the latest international standard for medical education, surgical training and professional development, into their curricula. In addition, the LAU-CSC serves the needs of the Lebanese American University Medical Centers, Rizk and Saint John hospitals and the larger healthcare community.
The center is accredited from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), reflecting the center’s position as a leading simulation hub in Lebanon and the region and its ability to provide simulation-based education activities that model the highest administrative, educational, and ethical standards.
Additionally, the LAU-CSC is a certified American Heart Association International Training Center (AHA-ITC) for Emergency Cardiovascular Care since 2014, delivering the Basic, Advanced adult and Pediatric Life Support courses and the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Moreover, in collaboration with the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Center provides training in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO).

To be recognized as a regionally prominent, accredited, interdisciplinary center that provides high-quality simulation education with the aims of promoting patient safety and effective patient care and advancing science through research.
LAU CSC Goals
- Provide learners with opportunities to develop clinical competencies and confidence in a safe setting.
- Provide a setting in which learners engage in interprofessional experiences that foster teamwork and collaboration with the aims of promoting safe and effective patient care.
- Serve as a venue to conduct research that will advance health care and health science education.
- Serve as a resource for the larger healthcare community to promote patient safety and quality in healthcare.
