M.D. Admission Requirements
The LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine is committed to admitting students who demonstrate academic excellence and a strong commitment to the values of the medical profession and to our school’s mission.
Our program nurtures and develops these values and the competencies set in our curriculum. Our alumni have had great success in securing residency training positions and other postgraduate pursuits, and now carry on our school’s mission in Lebanon and around the globe.
Requirements
The class starting Med I in August 2026 should expect graduation with an M.D. degree in 2030.
Admission to the school of medicine normally is based on a composite evaluation of the following criteria:
- Academic Performance: We expect prospective students to have a strong undergraduate GPA. Additionally, applicants must have completed specific prerequisite courses (See below prerequisite courses)
- Competitive Score on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). The MCAT may be taken twice only; the highest grades will be considered. (See below MCAT notice)
The MCAT must have been taken within the past four years. - Holistic assessment of the candidate extracurricular activities, research experience, and interview: We value applicants who have engaged in a diverse range of activities beyond their academic pursuits. This includes hands-on clinical experience, involvement in research projects, volunteer work, leadership positions, and other pertinent experiences. Students with satisfactory academic achievements and MCAT scores will be selected for an interview.
Pre-requisite Courses
-Biology: A minimum of 7 credits (non-freshman level courses), including at least one lab.
-Chemistry: A minimum of 7 credits (non-freshman level courses), including at least one lab and including at least 3 credits in organic chemistry
-Physics: A minimum of 4 credits (non-freshman level courses), including at least one lab
Lebanese students who have a baccalaureate in either “Economics and Sociology” or “Literature and Humanities” need to take additional credits in Biology (3 Cr), Chemistry (3-4 Cr), Math (3 Cr) and Physics (3-4 Cr).
Application
We encourage applicants to APPLY ONLINE. To apply for the class entering in fall 2027 please select academic year 2027-2028. Applicants may upload supporting documents and may pay the application fee using the online system or the bank payment as per the instructions in the online application.

Application Deadline
Early Acceptances: To be considered for early acceptances, applications must be received by December 15, 2026. Early acceptances will be issued in March 2027 Students who were not selected for early acceptances but still qualify for an interview, will be considered for regular acceptances.
Early admission interviews will be conducted in January 2027.
Regular Acceptances: Applications must be received by March 31, 2027. Acceptances will normally be issued starting April 2027.
MCAT scores: To be considered for Early admission, applicants must submit their MCAT scores by December 15, 2026 to be considered for Early admission. For Regular admission, applicants must submit their MCAT scores by the end of March 2027. Please ensure that you select LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine as the recipient of your MCAT scores.
