PSY466 Counseling Psychology

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course provides an overview of the major theoretical approaches to psychotherapy. Students will explore key techniques associated with major counseling theories, including psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and integrative models. A focus will be placed on the ethical and culturally sensitive approach to therapy, and its application to diverse client populations. Through case studies, students will critically evaluate each approach’s strengths, limitations, and cultural relevance.

Pre-requisite: PSY201 Introduction to Psychology, PSY425 Adult Psychopathology and ENG202 Advanced Academic English
