PSY427 Psychology and Trauma

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course aims at introducing students to theories explaining the effects of trauma, as well as factors facilitating resilience and post-traumatic growth, to understand individual and collective responses to traumatic experiences. Topics will include exploring wars, natural disasters, uncertainty, as well as various types of abuse and their impact on individual and cultural development. This course also presents culturally informed perspectives on trauma across the lifespan, and the role of psychological interventions in promoting recovery and adaptation.
