PSY316 Social Development and Parenting

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course will delve into the basic constructs of social-emotional development, the child’s ability to interact with others and working through emotions. Topics will also include temperament, attachment, peer relationships, as well as the development of empathy and morality. This course will also explore the role of parents and culture within the socialization process, through the use of empirical research, and real-world applications to understand how socialization processes impact developmental outcomes across diverse family and cultural contexts.
