PSY315 Positive Psychology

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course introduces an emerging shift in the field of psychology to include a focus on strengths and resiliency, in addition to the more traditional focus on pathology. Students will examine key concepts such as happiness, life satisfaction, optimism, meaning, character strengths, gratitude, creativity, and resilience, building on empirical research and theoretical foundations. The course also explores practical applications in clinical, educational, organizational, and everyday contexts, through reflection, discussion, and experiential activities, critically engaging with the science of well-being and considering how its principles can be used to enhance individual and collective psychological health.
