PSY311 Exceptional Child
[3–0, 3 cr.]
This course provides an introduction to child and adolescent psychopathology, including an overview of the main psychological disorders as per the DSM. Emphasis is put on symptoms and etiology of disorders, as well as an overview of psychological interventions for each. Through case studies, students will also be introduced to current evidence-based assessment and intervention strategies used in clinical and educational settings. Emphasis is placed on integrating theoretical understanding with case examples and contemporary research.
Pre-requisite: PSY201 Introduction to Psychology
Co-requisite: ENG102 Academic English II
