PHA320 Physical Assessment

This course prepares students to understand and perform patient assessment skills that are integral to the Pharmacist Patient Care Process (PPCP). It involves evaluating information gathered through patient interviews, direct physical assessment (e.g., obtaining vital signs, inspecting skin abnormalities, and interpreting patient symptoms and signs), as well as reviewing other sources such as medical records and medication profiles. Learning is achieved through a combination of didactic lectures, case studies, and simulation activities that support the monitoring of drug therapy and evaluation of patient responses to treatment. These activities strengthen pharmacy students’ roles within an interdisciplinary, collaborative healthcare system.

Prerequisites: PHA209 Principles of Pathophysiology & Immunology and PHA210 Systems Pathophysiology
