MGT201 Foundations of Management & Entrepreneurship

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course introduces the foundations of management and entrepreneurship within today’s dynamic global and digital business environment. Students explore the core functions of management—planning, organizing, leading, and controlling—while also examining how entrepreneurial thinking, opportunity recognition, and value creation drive innovation in both new ventures and established organizations. The course highlights how data, and emerging technologies support decision making, ethical and sustainable practices, and leadership. Topics include globalization, diversity, ethical and sustainable management practices, creativity and innovation, and the evolving role of leadership in technology driven and entrepreneurial contexts. Real world cases illustrate how managers and founders navigate complexity, uncertainty, and rapid change across industries, providing students with practical insights into both effective management and the entrepreneurial process.

MGT236 Communication Skills

[1–0, 1 cr.]

A fifteen-hour workshop format that relies on in-class discussions designed to introduce students to teamwork and interpersonal communication skills within a business setting. Students will encounter a set of communication practices such as verbal and non-verbal communication, group communication, writing CV and Business letters, listening skills.

Prerequisites: Business Major and ENG 009

MGT301 Organizational Behavior

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course covers the organizations’ social psychology. Its purpose is to provide an understanding of how organizations can be managed more effectively through a comprehensive analysis of individual and group behavior in organizations. Topics include individual personality and perception, motivation, rewarding behavior, stress, diversity management, group dynamics, conflicts, leadership, communication, power and politics, and organizational culture and change.

Prerequisite: MGT201 Introduction to Management

MGT317 Conflict Resolution Tools for the Business World

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course provides an overview of the skills and tools needed to understand different types of conflicts in a business setting. It also provides students with information on how to analyze such conflicts and review techniques used for effective intervention in such conflicts. Real life examples are used to illustrate such conflicts and the processes that have helped achieve conflict resolution or transformation. Furthermore, leadership role and cultural influences are reviewed in addition to conflict resolutions skills such as facilitation, negotiation and mediation techniques. 

MGT336 Developing a Business Plan

[1–0, 1 cr.]

This course is designed to help students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills needed to prepare a comprehensive integrated written business plan. The course will equip the students with the basis for elaborating the different sec­tions of the plan as expected by financing agents. Through the learning process, the students will learn the principles of undertaking a thorough analysis of the different organizational forms and departments, products and services, human resources capacities, markets and marketing programs, as well as financial status and financing tools.

MGT338 Negotiation Workshop

[1–0, 1 cr.]

This workshop builds students’ analytical, interpersonal, and ethical negotiation capabilities through experiential learning. Students learn the psychology of negotiation, managing interests and power, creating value, navigating cross-cultural differences, and conducting negotiations in virtual and hybrid settings. Emphasis is placed on ethical behavior, relationship management, and developing principled agreements.

MGT399 Internship / Practicum

[1 cr.]

Students may earn one credit by working for a period of four weeks (minimum 120 hours) at a position relevant to their major. The internship must be approved by the course instructor. Students are also encouraged to reflect on civic engagement or the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within their internship experience. (This course is Pass/Fail)

Pre-requisites: BUS299, junior and good academic standing.

MGT401 Project Management

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course covers the problems of managing projects on identification, design, appraisal, selection, organization, operations, supervision and control, comple­tion and evaluation.

Prerequisites: Senior standing, ACC202 Principles of Accounting II and MGT201 Introduction to Management

MGT411 Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Start-up Lab

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course intends to integrate both fields of innovation and entrepreneurship after having diverged the pre-occupation of entrepreneurship with small business creation and that of innovation with new product development. The course’s approach aims to reunite research theories and practice of innovation and entrepreneurship in the broader context of corporate and public services, economies, and emerging technologies for sustainability and development. Case study analyses, group projects and lecture participation are highly emphasized in this course. Through a mandatory lab component, students engage in hands on venture development, including opportunity evaluation, competitive positioning, operational setup, pricing, and financial planning, culminating in a feasibility study or business launch plan with a clear path to positive.

MGT420 Strategic Planning and Policy Formulation

This capstone course develops students’ ability to analyze the external and internal environment, formulate, implement strategy, evaluate and control the process in complex, global, and digitally transforming environments. Through experiential learning, students will apply strategic analysis tools, data-driven decision- making, scenario planning, and a strategy-as-planned-emergence approaches. Recognizing that in today’s dynamic and uncertain environment, effective strategy requires both deliberate planning and adaptive responsiveness. To evaluate competitive advantage and organizational performance emphasis is placed on global strategy, sustainability, and navigating uncertainty through multidisciplinary cases.

Prerequisites: A completion of a minimum of 27 credits of core courses, senior standing.

MGT436 Personality and Career Development

[1–0, 1 cr.]

A fifteen-hour workshop designed to introduce students to the importance of personality styles in shaping their careers. Students will be more knowledgea­ble and understanding of their behavioral preferences that can have significant effects on their career success. Students will also learn how to evaluate and develop their personality styles to match their career objectives.

MGT438 Leadership Workshop

[1–0, 1 cr.]

This workshop enhances students’ leadership awareness and capability in dynamic organizational settings. Students explore leadership styles, inclusive and ethical leadership, team motivation, and the skills required to lead in digital and uncertain environments. Through experiential exercises and reflective tools, students assess their leadership strengths and develop strategies for effective, authentic leadership practice.

MGT441 Human Resources Management

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course examines the principles and practices of strategic human resource management, with emphasis on talent acquisition, performance management, employee development. Students explore strategic HRM, training and development, performance appraisal, career planning, alongside issues of ethics, diversity, and global workforce challenges.

MGT450 Special Topics in Management

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course covers management topics not usually included in the curriculum. It offers a detailed understanding of timely issues and applications in the worlds of production and management, both in private and public frameworks. Operations and production management, entrepreneurship, and small-business management are covered, among other topics.

This course requires the consent of the program advisor.

MGT711 Strategic Management (Capstone Course)

[1.5–0, 1.5 cr.]

This course provides students with in-depth knowledge of strategic planning and strategy formulations.  It is a capstone course that requires student to focus on knowledge acquired from previous courses and to integrate them in a final project.  This project is intended to provide a culminating experience and an added value to the students’ learning process.

This capstone course focuses on the concepts of strategic management and competitive analysis to develop critical management skills within our graduates.  Emphasis is given to integrating concepts and ideas from the major business functions such as: Management, Marketing, Accounting, Analytics, and Finance to provide a comprehensive perspective on how companies are managed.  Topics and case studies will guide students through the process of strategic planning and execution, starting with the basics of setting a direction for a company and ending with a proper execution plan and monitoring mechanisms strategies.

Students not only will engage in current and upbeat strategic discussions but will also use the acquired knowledge and research skills and work as consultants to help a major firm in strategizing and achieving competitive advantages.  This will materialize through the completion of an appropriate special project.

Prerequisites: This course is a capstone course that integrates several business concepts.  Before taking this course, students are expected to have completed the following:

  • MGT751 Executive Leadership and Communication Skills, MGT727 Managerial Negotiations, ACC711 Accounting for Executives, ECO710 Applied Economics for Executives, FIN712 Executive Business Finance, QBA730 Business Analytics for Executives, and MKT711 Marketing Management for Executives.

  • 24 credits must be completed before registering MGT711.

MGT718 Executive Organizational Behavior

[1.5–0, 1.5 cr.]

This course discusses the interpersonal skills and management of small groups and teams. Required for organizational effectiveness. Topics include interpersonal effectiveness, decision making and problem solving, effective group processes, and motivation of key employees.

MGT720 Global Management

[1.5–0, 1.5 cr.]

This course explores the dynamic global environment of business management by exploring the political, legal, technological, competitive, and cultural factors that shape corporations worldwide. It will discuss various issues facing international business managers today around the globe.

MGT721 Corporate Governance

This course deals with the duties and responsibilities of board membership. Topics include way corporate governance operates in today’s challenging global business environment.

MGT727 Managerial Negotiations

[1.5–0, 1.5 cr.]

This course deal with the skills a manager needs for carrying out negotiations at the internal level with employees and the external level with customers.

MGT731 Leading Organizational Change

[1.5–0, 1.5 cr.]

This course focuses on the challenges leaders are facing during organizational changes and the skills needed to facilitate these changes. Topics include the key tasks of leading the strategic change process in organizations.

MGT734 Business Legal Environment, Ethics and Social Responsibility

This course deals with the Lebanese laws governing businesses and how these laws affect business strategy and decision making. It also covers the social responsibility of corporations. In addition, students also examine the ethical implications of business decisions. 

MGT751 Executive Leadership and Communication Skills

[1.5–0, 1.5 cr.]

This course focuses on leader’s skills and the difference between managers and leaders. Topics include communication skills a leader needs to influence others. Topics also include leader styles, traits, power, motivation and credibility.

MGT756 Project Management and Planning

This course involves the selection of projects, their initiation, implementation, control and termination.

MGT777 Leadership Boot Camp

[1.5–0, 1.5 cr.]

This workshop is designed to upgrade leadership skills of students to an advanced level. This advanced level entails less reliance on technical skills and more dependence on conceptual and interrelationship skills. The workshop allows students to exercise their leadership skills through real application that reinforces their ability to engage and motivate others into accomplishing particular tasks. The workshop will also assist students to transit from followers to leaders in organizations.

This course immerses participants in the Design Thinking process—a human-centered, iterative approach to innovation used by leading organizations worldwide. It emphasizes understanding user needs, reframing problems, generating ideas, prototyping solutions, and testing them in real contexts. By integrating creative thinking, strategic insight, and analytical rigor, participants will learn to design solutions that deliver meaningful business and societal impact. The course combines theory with experiential learning through teamwork, field observation, and project-based exercises.

MGT781CF Consultancy for Executives

[1.5–0, 1.5 cr.]

This course equips participants with advanced frameworks to diagnose challenges, design strategic solutions, and drive organizational advancement. It emphasizes analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and effective communication. Participants are introduced to AI-augmented consulting to understand how artificial intelligence enhances data analysis and decision-making. The course builds practical skills in problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and navigating strategic shifts across industries.

MGT781CH ESG & Sustainability

This course introduces the principles and practices of sustainability and ESG consulting, focusing on how organizations can integrate environmental, social, and governance factors into their strategies and operations. Participants will learn consulting tools used to assess ESG performance, conduct materiality analyses, and design sustainability roadmaps. Through real-world cases and applied exercises, the course builds analytical and advisory skills to help participants guide clients in aligning profitability with purpose, navigating global reporting standards, and creating long-term stakeholder value.

MGT781CJ Social Entrepreneurship

This course explores the growing field of social entrepreneurship, where innovation meets social and environmental impact. It examines how entrepreneurs identify pressing social problems, design sustainable business models, and measure social value creation. Participants will analyze global and local case studies, develop their own social venture ideas, and learn how to attract impact investors and manage mission-driven growth.

This course is an introduction to management, organizational behavior, and development theories and practices, emphasizing applications in managerial situations. Topics include goal setting, manpower planning and control, motivational techniques, and problem-solving processes.

MGT834 Project Planning and Management

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course entails an examination of the techniques used to select, supervise and evaluate projects, emphasizing the application of project performance control methods. Topics include needs analysis, alternative courses of action, optimum alternatives, project organization, operation and control, and project completion and evaluation.

MGT835 Innovation and Entrepreneurship

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course is designed for graduate students interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. It examines key research theories and their practical implications, reconnecting innovation and entrepreneurship within corporate, public, and emerging technology contexts. Topics include opportunity identification and exploitation, environmental influences, identity and human and social capital, as well as venture financing and growth strategies.

MGT836 Sustainability and ESG Strategy

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course introduces the principles and strategic foundations of sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) integration within organizations. It examines how firms incorporate ESG considerations into corporate strategy, operations, and long-term value creation. Students will explore tools used to assess ESG performance, conduct materiality analyses, and develop sustainability strategies aligned with global reporting standards. Through real-world cases and applied exercises, the course develops the analytical and strategic decision-making skills required to align profitability with purpose, manage stakeholder expectations, and create sustainable competitive advantage.

MGT837O Applied Entrepreneurship Studio (online)

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course provides a structured and practical framework for entrepreneurial venture creation and growth. It equips students with the essential skills needed to launch, test, and validate a startup while integrating AI driven tools that support and accelerate each stage of the process. The course combines core theoretical foundations with applied, real world methodologies that guide students as they develop and refine their concepts. Students will engage in problem identification, market validation, business modeling, and preparation of go to market strategies. They will learn to use AI tools to enhance opportunity research, competitive analysis, customer discovery, prototype development, and content creation. The course places particular emphasis on idea testing, minimum viable product development, strategic planning, and legal and operational considerations. Case studies and guest lectures from industry practitioners will provide insight into the challenges and opportunities of building a startup, with AI applications embedded throughout to improve decision making and increase execution speed.

Prerequisite: Completion of core MBA courses. Normally taken in the final semester of the MBA.

This course explores human behavior at the individual, group and organization- al level. Issues of leadership and management, conflict resolution, communications, decision-making power and political behavior, and stress and organizational change will be introduced.

MGT843O Global Business, Ethics and Social Responsibility

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course covers global business, ethics, social responsibility, and legal systems. Business in the global environment is comprised of many factors: the parts played by governments, international institutions, regulations, world monetary and trade systems, global ethics, social responsibility, cultural diversity, differences in opportunities, environmental concerns, economic development, technology, economy, and education among others. The course discusses the conflicts among corporate beneficiaries and socially responsible corporate responses.

MGT851 Leadership, Ethics and Team Management

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course is intended to explain how to be a successful ethical leader, covering the challenges of leadership, requiring realignment of values, developing skills which inspire others to follow, and to act. It details the key skills required to  lead a team or those required to work within one team. The main subject areas which will be addressed are team building, team management, and the individual’s roles within the team, communication and problem solving.

MGT872 Business Policy and Planning

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course is an application of policy formulation and implementation concepts, emphasizing the practical use of managerial skills and theoretical frame- works. Topics include problem identification and definition, organizational goal setting, establishment, and performance review and evaluation.

MGT875 Strategic Management

[3–0, 3 cr.]

Students will also use the acquired knowledge and skills and work as consultants to help major firm in strategizing and achieving competitive advantages. This will materialize through the group analysis of up-to-date and relevant case studies.

This course introduces business ethics as a core foundation for understanding ethical decision-making in today’s dynamic business environment. It develops students’ ability to apply key ethical theories and frameworks to identify and manage ethical issues within organizations. Focusing on contemporary challenges such as AI, sustainability, corruption, workplace ethics, globalization, and stakeholder management, the course links theory to real-world practice. Through case studies and interactive activities, students build critical thinking, ethical analysis, and responsible decision-making skills to develop sustainable and ethically sound business solutions.
