MCE550 Robotics and Intelligent Systems

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course covers the modeling, analysis, and control of serial robotic manipulators, with emphasis on coordinate transformations, forward and inverse kinematics, linear and angular velocities, dynamics, equations of motion, and control strategies for industrial robots. The second part of the course introduces ROS 2, the modern Robot Operating System framework for developing robotic applications. Topics include ROS 2 architecture, nodes, topics, services, actions, packages, launch files, robot modeling, simulation, visualization, and control integration. Students will gain practical experience using ROS 2 tools for robot simulation, control, and application development.
