HCM876O Heath Economics and Policy

This course provides students with a solid grounding in health economics and policy decision making, and the economic principles behind how healthcare systems are structured and funded. The first part covers core theory and practical tools, from key health economic concepts and health system structures to pharmacoeconomic evaluations, and strategies for efficient resource use. The second part addresses pharmaceutical innovation and policies to enhance equity and affordability. Students also examine global health institutions and policy analysis tools. Through discussions and real-world case studies, students develop skills for assessing and addressing health economic and policy issues in healthcare decision-making and market access.
