CYS430 Secure Software Development and Engineering

[2–0, 2 cr.]

This course introduces students to the principles and practices of secure software development. Students learn how security considerations can be integrated throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis and design to implementation and testing. The course covers common software vulnerabilities, defensive programming practices, secure design principles, and introductory software security testing techniques. Students also gain exposure to modern secure development practices, including Agile security and DevSecOps concepts. Hands-on activities and labs are used to reinforce secure coding and vulnerability mitigation techniques.
