ART351 Sculpture I

[1–4, 3 cr.]

This course introduces the basic concepts, materials, and processes of sculpture. It is based on fundamental notions of composition in space, formal perception, and projection. The course emphasizes the understanding of traditional and contemporary notions and techniques through providing students with the ability to realize three-dimensional works based on simple subject matter through modeling, casting, and carving. Basic techniques of drawing volume will be enhanced in parallel with 3D form-making.
