CIE533 Groundwater Engineering
[3–0, 3 cr.]
Flow of incompressible fluids through porous media, groundwater movement, Darcy’s law. Introduction to groundwater production, recharge, quality, saltwater intrusion, aquifer management. Differential equations governing the flows. laboratory and field methods of hydraulic conductivity measurements, confined and unconfined flow, and graphical flow nets; seepage control in earth structures, soil stabilization, drainage, geo-textiles, and construction dewatering.
Pre-requisite: CIE444 Soil Mechanics.
