PHA760 Biostatistics: in Pharmaceutical Development of Drugs

[3–0, 3 cr.]

The course builds on student basic knowledge of statistical theory, testing hypothesis, and bivariate analysis. The course introduces techniques for setting up analysis of variance analysis starting from the simple, then moving to more complex designs, and finishing with multiple factors including repeated. The course covers multivariate analysis techniques in creating regression models, methods of assumptions assessments, definitions and use of types of SS, checking for confounding, and interaction interpretation. This is followed by a detailed discussion of logistic regression for dichotomous data. Modeling building and interpretations are discussed. The course finishes with either an introduction of the cox proportional hazards model for survival analysis, or a brief coverage of factor analysis. The course emphasizes the application and interpretation from practice and utilizes computer software, namely SPSS.
