Overview

Open to all students at LAU, except those in the School of Architecture and Design, the Minor in Fine Arts offers students in other majors the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the production, techniques, principles, and practices of the fine arts.

Mission

The mission of the Minor in Fine Arts is to furnish students with a framework of applied theory for their development as leading creative artists and thinkers in studio arts, and ultimately as more skilled professionals.

Program Objectives

The Minor in Fine Arts aims to

1. provide an environment in which students can engage in creative activities and develop an aesthetic awareness,
2. provide students with the technical skills and knowledge of the use of materials and technologies in drawing, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, multimedia, photography and computer art, as professional artists,
3. develop various artistic methods and diverse approaches to problem solving with analytical and developmental tools, and
4. associate fine art programs to other related disciplines and practices, and cultural activities.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Minor in Fine Arts, students will acquire

1. creative, visual, and critical thinking,
2. technical realization and visual communication,
3. the ability to understand and analyze color and color theory,
4. the ability to create and develop their own artistic production and
5. an understanding of inter-relational spatial organization and properties.
