Minor in Business
Overview
The Minor in Business provides the general student community at LAU with the opportunity to combine a good understanding of business notions with their choice of discipline.
Regardless of the field of study a student is enrolled in, the program provides the basic knowledge in economics and business, i.e. finance, management and marketing, along with the essential proven and applied tools useful in the real world. The Minor in Business at LAU stimulates a more genuine perception of the changing global market, enabling a solid grounding in general professional competence.
Curriculum
For a Minor in Business, a student must complete a minimum of 18 credits, as per the following:
Core Courses (15 cr)
- MKT201 Introduction to Marketing (3 cr)
- MGT201 Introduction to Management (3 cr)
- ACC203 Financial Accounting (3 cr)
- ECO201 Introduction to Microeconomics (3 cr)1
- FIN301 Managerial Finance (3 cr)
1 or ECO202 Introduction to Macroeconomics (3 cr)
Upper-Level Courses (3 cr)
This upper-level course requires departmental approval and declaration of minor.
- MGT301 Organizational Behavior 1 (3 cr)
- MGT411 Innovation and Entrepreneurship (3 cr)
- MKT304 Consumer Behavior 2 (3 cr)
- FIN302 Financial Institutions and Markets 4 (3 cr)
- OPM301 Operation and Production Management (3 cr)
Note that non-business students will no longer be able to register in any business course other than the 18 credits for the minor. The only exception would be those courses that are required for non-business degrees.
