Knowledge of biology is adjunct to many other majors and professional fields. The Minor in Biology introduces students to core concepts in domains of biological nature. It complements the requirements of premedical students and provides a solid grounding for those interested in other health sciences as well as those who wish to pursue careers in the chemical and biochemical industries. With this comprehensive preparation, students become more competitive in the job market.
Mission
The mission of the Minor in Biology is to offer a broad yet coherent program, providing students with basic knowledge in different fields of biology.
Program Objectives
The Minor in Biology seeks to
- afford students with basic general information in biology through lecture and laboratory courses,
- prepare students pursuing further education in health-related fields such as medicine, medicinal chemistry, nutrition, public health and medical laboratory work, and
- offer students a wider range of job opportunities.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Minor in Biology, students should be able to
- show acquisition of basic knowledge of biological sciences,
- demonstrate adequate experience in lab and basic research techniques,
- demonstrate problem-solving abilities in the biological science, and
- acquire adequate preparation for careers in biological sciences or entrance into professional studies.

To complete the Minor in Biology, total of 19 credits are required, as per the following:

- BIO345 Cell and Molecular Biology (4 cr)
