PTE200 Introduction to Petroleum Engineering

Broad overview of petroleum engineering. Introduction to petroleum drilling, production, and completion; fundamentals of rock and fluid properties; basic principles of geology (earth structure, rocks, sedimentary basins, mapping), sedimentology and depositional environments, generation and migration of petroleum (traps & seals), reserves estimation, composition and PVT properties of petroleum fluids, introduction to petroleum exploration techniques; well logging and formation evaluation; production and reservoir performance indicators.
Pre-requisite: Sophomore standing
