MEE745 Theory of Vibration
[3–0, 3 cr.]
This course covers the analysis and modeling of vibrating systems, focusing on multi-degree-of-freedom and continuous structures. It explores the derivation of equations of motion using analytical mechanics principles and the application of time-domain and frequency-domain techniques in vibration analysis. Topics include modal analysis, natural frequency determination, and mode shapes. Fourier series and transforms are employed to examine periodic and non-periodic vibrations, while the vibration characteristics of continuous systems such as bars, beams, and membranes are also investigated.
Note: This course has not been taught since Fall 2021 and will not be taught during the academic year 20234-2025.
