Frem Civic Center

One of our newest buildings, Frem Civic Center was inaugurated in 2011 on the Byblos campus. Its construction was financed by the Georges N. Frem Foundation, an active Lebanese NGO committed to supporting education, social causes and development programs.

This state-of-the-art, 5,240-square-meter facility was envisioned as a center for civic responsibility and leadership. Among other offices, it houses the Outreach and Civic Engagement Office, which allows and encourages students to take part in community projects, NGOs, Global Classrooms–LAU Model UN, study abroad opportunities, and much more.

At the inauguration, Mr. Antoine Frem, brother of the late Georges Frem, reasserted his family’s support of LAU’s mission. “The university has intellectual capital, made up of brilliant faculty and students,” he said. “We will strive to develop and advance these talents as a force for good in the world.”
