Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management

Program Goals

The program seeks to provide students with:

  1. Essential knowledge of hospitality, tourism and related business disciplines;
  2. Problem solving capabilities;
  3. An awareness of social and ethical issues; and
  4. The ability to use written and oral communication effectively.

Program Outcomes

Upon the completion of this program, students will:

  1. Demonstrate essential knowledge acquired in the field of hospitality, tourism management, and related disciplines;
  2. Demonstrate essential skills acquired through the use of hospitality technologies / software, materials, and equipment that closely simulate the workplace;
  3. Be able to identify and evaluate the challenges of operating a hospitality and tourism business;
  4. Be able to examine the social and ethical issues involved in a hospitality and tourism industry specific case;
  5. Be able to deliver an effective oral presentation; and
  6. Be able to demonstrate effective written communication.

Admission Requirements

To enter the major, students must meet the general university requirements.

Graduation Requirements

In order to fulfill their graduation requirements, students are expected to complete 122 credits if they join the university at the freshmen level, or a minimum of 92 credits if they join the B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management at the sophomore level.

Program Requirements

All hospitality students are required to complete 550 hours of internship work. The internship can be completed at named local and international hospitality firms.

Career Opportunities

Upon the completion of a minimum of sixty credits (junior standing), students are required to participate in a hands-on training program which blends class­room learning with laboratory applications to simulate the real life environment. Academic credits are also earned from doing an internship. Internships help students estab­lish ties with the industry and prepares them for careers in real life. In addition, our faculty members establish and place/train students in various countries at world-renowned companies.
