Cybersecurity [Fundamentals] Certificate
Overview
Students in Lebanese American University’s Cybersecurity [Fundamentals] Certificate program learn to protect valuable information, including learning skills in cryptography, network security, computer forensics and more.
In this program, students of all backgrounds will be prepared to progress into the full MS in Computer Science if they desire. They will gain expertise in many important areas of security at the digital level, including networks, software, machines and applications. Students will also learn basic cryptography and data security and detect criminal acts with computer forensics.
This certificate program may be completed either in person or online.
Student Outcomes
Students in the certificate will be able to:
- Apply core principles of information and network security, including cryptography, access control, and threat mitigation, to protect organizational assets against cyber risks.
- Analyze security incidents, evaluate vulnerabilities, and design appropriate defense and response strategies using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Integrate knowledge of data and network security principles to demonstrate competence at the level expected by the GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) certification.
Admission Requirements
- Having earned a bachelor’s degree.
- This course is taught in English, so applicants must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
- GRE is not required.
Curriculum
The courses in the Cybersecurity [Fundamentals] Certificate program are taught by experienced faculty and designed to provide advanced training for IT professionals. In this program, students will explore up-to-date and practical technologies and methods used daily in cybersecurity. A total of 9 credits is required.
The program prepares students with practical knowledge to work as effectively in the growing field of cybersecurity. The 3 required courses will provide valuable skills from detecting data breaches to learning the theory behind cybersecurity.
