PTE524 Reservoir Simulation

[3–0, 3 cr.]

Comprehensive study of reservoir simulation techniques, focusing on the Characteristics and behavior of petroleum reservoirs, including pore volume, fluid distribution and movement, and recovery; result simulation studies of optimized field development and management plans which maximize the value and/or reserves of producing properties and minimize losses and avoid unsustainable production levels; governing equations for development of several analytical models for reservoir evaluation and analysis; finite difference approximations to the diffusivity equation and the application of those approximations for reservoir simulations; application to common reservoir engineering problems.

Pre-requisite: PTE322 Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering.
