[2–2, 3 cr.]
This course provides interior design students with a comprehensive understanding of designing functional and innovative kitchens and bathrooms across a range of settings, including residential, hospitality, and other commercial environments. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises, students will explore the unique challenges and key considerations of these essential spaces—focusing on space planning, material selection, ergonomics, lighting, detailing, and contemporary design trends.
The course also examines the historical development and cultural evolution of kitchens and bathrooms around the world, analyzing how these spaces have changed across time and cultures.
