[2–0, 2 cr.]
This course provides a foundation in statistical methods and their applications in data science. Students will learn to summarize, analyze, and interpret data using descriptive and inferential statistics. Key topics include probability distributions, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression analysis, and multivariate techniques. Emphasis is placed on applying statistical reasoning to real-world datasets, using software tools to perform analyses, and interpreting results to support data-driven decision-making. The course prepares students to leverage statistical methods effectively in data science, machine learning, and research contexts.
