ARCH311 Structural Concepts

[3–0, 3 cr.]

This course introduces basic principles of mechanics and structural analysis in order to come to an understanding of the behavior of structural systems and their implication on the built environment. Core structural concepts including force, load, stress, and strain are addressed, and graphic and numeric analyses of statically  determined and undetermined members allows the students to apply and verify these concepts and investigate basic structural objects.

Prerequisites: MTH102 Calculus II, PHY111 Mechanics
