Freshman Program
Freshman students admitted to Bachelor of Arts programs are considered “freshman arts” students, while those admitted to Bachelor of Science programs are considered “freshman science” students. However, freshman students on the Graphic Design, Interior Design or Business majors can choose to complete either set of requirements.
The curriculum below is for students entering in the academic year 2014–2015 or later. Students admitted in previous academic years should follow the previous freshman program.
Freshman-Year Objectives:
The freshman-year program prepares students to pursue higher education within the requirements defined by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
A. Freshman Arts (30 Credits)
Mandatory Courses (10 Credits)
- ENG101 English I (3 cr.) *
- ENG102 English II (3 cr.) *
- BUS105 Business Mathematics (3 cr.)
or
MTH111 Basic Mathematics (3 cr.) ** - POL230 Citizenship (1 cr.)
* Students are placed in an English course depending on their English entrance exam results (SAT, TOEFL, etc.). If a student is placed into ENG102, s/he needs to compensate for the corresponding credits by taking an additional course from the list of Humanities/Social Sciences courses listed below. If a student is placed into a higher-level ENG course, s/he can compensate for the corresponding credits by taking two additional courses form the list of Humanities/Social Sciences courses listed below or by taking one course from this list and another from the “Elective courses” listed below. A student who starts with ENG009 must take all other English courses listed in this program.
** A student transferring from Freshman Sciences who has already taken and passed MTH101 can substitute MTH101 for MTH111. Students planning to join the School of Business are requested to take BUS105.
