PHA650AF Sterile Compounding

The sterile compounding APPE rotation is an elective one-calendar month experience that immerses the student in the fundamental principles essential for ensuring the safety and efficacy of sterile compounded medications within hospital and healthcare settings. This rotation aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to apply sterile compounding terminology, principles, techniques, and resources essential for maintaining the integrity and safety of compounded medications. The student will actively engage in various tasks including compounding sterile preparations, quality assurance processes, and compliance with regulatory standards. Special attention will be given to identifying potential risks in the compounding process and implementing measures to mitigate these risks. The rotation will offer opportunities for hands-on experience to enhance the student’s proficiency and understanding of sterile compounding practices throughout the medication management continuum.
