Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts

Mission

The mission of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts is to give rise to, through a liber­al arts education, a generation of communicators with extensive cultural, artistic, and technical, proficiency and versatility as to enable them to compete in the regional, local and global media market, as well as in graduate school.

Program Objectives

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts seeks to

  1. give students the knowledge, and proficiency, that makes them qual­ified for a rapidly growing variety of jobs such as script writing, editing, directing, producing, reporting, acting, casting, dubbing, and documentary film making,
  2. train students who are interested in pursuing a teaching career in drama, and audiovisual arts, at the high school level in Lebanon,
  3. offer students a well-rounded education that will enable them to contrib­ute to the ongoing development of the media, and cultural industries, in the region, and
  4. provide students with a research background that enables them to contin­ue their education.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts, students should be able to

  1. develop a critical appreciation of the audio and visual arts, and will be able to express this in writing,
  2. demonstrate a balanced grasp of the theoretical, and practical, aspects of the field;
  3. Understand the ethical, legal, and social, issues related to media,
  4. display a firm grasp of research methods, leading them to the production of videos, films, articles, plays, radio/TV programs, or research papers,
  5. demonstrate the ability to operate state of the art equipment in a studio, theatre and newsroom,
  6. provide evidence of great managerial competence, in any communication arts based environment,
  7. perform effectively in any production team, and to function as leaders, whenever the need arises, and
  8. engage in creative production responsibilities, and/or creative scholarly research.
