Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design

Overview

The objectives of the Elie Saab Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design are to provide for the development of inspiring artifacts in various fashion fields, and in response to different cultural settings. The program offers a comprehensive range of courses that foster creativity and expand the educational, cultural and artistic knowledge and skills of students. The program also aims to develop students’ practical training in design, in addition to developing their knowledge of management of design products in a globalized world.

The curriculum of the Elie Saab Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design is composed of the common Foundation year, the Core Curriculum, and the Liberal Arts (LAC) requirements. The total number of credits required for the Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design is 130 credits.

Mission

The mission of the Elie Saab Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design is to educate designers to engage various fashion design tasks with versatility, to develop their conceptual skills as synthesizers of different influences and cultural trends, and to cater to the fashion needs of evolving contexts, with social and environmental awareness.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design will acquire the following skills, including the ability to:

  1. Research, analyze and interpret fashion trends to design and produce successful fashion products in a constantly evolving field;
  2. Engage in aesthetic experiments that negotiate between abstract concepts and critical inquiry;
  3. Propose innovative fashion products of diverse types for various contexts, and especially for regional markets;
  4. Operate in multidisciplinary environments that bring together consultancy, manufacture, production and business expertise;
  5. Design with ecological awareness in a world of limited resources; and
  6. Serve the community as sensitive leaders guided by ethical, social and moral values.

Admission Requirements

To enter the major, students must meet the general university requirements and the fashion design program specific requirements.

A total of 130 credits are required to graduate, based on:
